Sdtrk: ‘el graphic’ by Death by chocolate

Hells yeah! Err, I mean, Why yes, of course!
It seems that 4woods has gone crazy with the sculpting and releasing of not one, but five new models! Well, two of them aren’t really new, they’re resculpts of previous models, but their Sexiness Quotient has increased about 300%. Three hundred per cent! That’s three one hundred per cents!

First off, there’s the new lass, Natsuki, of the A.I.NEO series.

She seems… distracted

Personally, Natsuki is my new favourite. She just has a certain something that I can’t explain, but she’s my tip for the top these days. Not to say that Kunika, Yu-ki et al are no longer comely, but Natsuki is just seven shades of gorgeous. Maybe it’s because she looks a wee bit like my Sidore-chan? Who can say?
Then there’s Kunika Reloaded, a new twist on an old favourite:

‘Eyes up here, matey’

The most alluring features I’d have to say about Natsuki and Kunika Reloaded are their mouths — their lips have that slightly-parted quality to them which is very enticing. And evidently, they brush and floss often!
Then there’s Haruhi, the debut lass of 4woods’ new NEO-J line.

Barbarella! Good to see you could make it

Seems like the NEO-J (or NEO-Junior) is not as small-framed as the A.I.Sister line, but not as big as the A.I.Doll line, or as well-endowed as the A.I.NEO line. In fact, it also seems that the company is moving on from their A.I.Doll and A.I.Sister body types, and concentrating more on A.I.NEO and NEO-J. Good, cos all of this is confusing the living hell out of me.
Next up is the new version of Yurio. ‘Hello! I’m Yurio,’ she says on the site, ‘I changed my makeup because my body also got a littele bit of evolutions.’ I completely agree. (??)

Did no-one pay attention to my warning about Doppelgängers??

As you can see from the photo above, they’re also available in ‘Nature colour’ (the pale version) and ‘Asian colour’, which is more of the tanned mocha variation, and any of their Dolls can be poured in either skintone.
And finally we have Neu, their ’20th special’. She’s not their 20th Doll, nor have they been round for 20 years, but from what I can glean from the machine translations is that, basically, everytime 4woods makes Dolls available for purchase, they do it in batches, and Neu commemorates their 20th order batch. Okay, now that makes sense. So does this mean every time 4woods hits a certain batch order number, they’ll make a new special edition Doll? Sounds like a plan!

It could’ve been worse — she could’ve been named Amon Düül

Neu is obviously going to cater to certain, more otaku customers by and large, but it’s neat that they offer her in the first place. Also, if you were to fit her with a sky-blue wig, she could convincingly cosplay as a member of the Abh race from ‘Crest of the Stars‘…
From what the site says, you can order her with regular ears, alternatively, or as they say, ‘a big ear and a usual ear.’ Huh! The better to hear you with, one would assume. Plus, more ear means more piercings, as far as I’m concerned. 🙂

Also, atsushi-san, MaRi-chan‘s boyfriend, mentioned recently in his blog that there’s a new issue of i-doloid Petie Maniax due out soon, that looks to have an article dealing with 4woods new lasses. Any way you slice it — delicious.

And to round off this particular entry, I’m sure everyone’s seen the ‘Skatebording girls‘ video. Why is it so funny? Because it contains Unrefined Humour Molecules, I’m guessing. I could watch it all day! Just… don’t tell Ronald Dotson about it; he might freak out and start crying

Sdtrk: ‘The weeping dancefloor’ by The caretaker

Normally, I don’t plump for Orient industry’s CandyGirl Dolls cos most of them don’t look mature enough for me, but their new Jewel Rosa line has a certain je ne sais quoi that’s captured my attention. I’m thinking it might be their generously-sized dirty pillows.

N.B.: not to be confused with the Pixies‘ ‘Surfer Rosa’

According to a Japanese Doll news site filtered through Babelfish, it says

Name of truth striking of Orient Industry with “Jewel Rosa”, with atmosphere new work 3 of heads seems that aims toward the doll of the adult. It meaning that product information is not announced yet, details are unclear, but, because it made the naming, “Jewel Rosa” specially, it probably means being the essential difference in size of the bust and other than tenderness. In other words to the framework which past from the framework, it is can do posing slowly evolution (?) That you think whether it is not to do. As for the head, Koyuki (18), Ami (22), Sachiko (26) with, the kind of air which the supposition kind of age which is said separately is produced does. Furthermore, start of incoming order November 2nd from 9 o’clock in the afternoon.

Ahh, machine translations: truly High Comedy. But you get the gist of it, I’m sure. I hope!

Sdtrk: ‘Spring hall convert’ by Deerhunter

Considering eight out of the past ten posts for October were Synthetiks-related, giving this post that title was completely arbitrary. Sometimes that happens! I cannot explain it.

Anyway, big round of applause for China, as they’ve just joined the Synthetiks Race in earnest. It’s like the Arms Race, only much better for humanity. Sexier, too.

heh heh, ‘Maiden China’.
Sorry, there was no call for that

Chinese Blond Female Humanoid Robot unveiled

China displayed their robots at a robot show in early October. One of the biggest highlights of the show were the highly human-like robots.

However it is yet a little bit too early to dub these human copies as robots since their actions and abilities are way too limited. For instance, the female humanoid above only sings and moves her lips a little (that too in a highly robotic manner).

The Chinese robot, nicknamed ‘Dion’ does score a point above the Japanese Actroid female robot with respect to the body precisions and stats (though I do wish they’d given her better tresses), but I yet do find the latter cuter and more convincing than the Chinese one.
the rest of the article is here. CAUTION: POP-UP FEST ’99

I’d actually spotted this gorgeous creature last night on Robot Watch, but there wasn’t a tremendous amount of info on her. More accurately, there probably was a paragraph describing her somewhere, but since I can read only about five to eight per cent of the Japanese language on a good day, I was kinda at sea… However, I did find a brief video of her; remind me, and I’ll post it next month.

I’m figuring the robotics community of China came to the realisation that Rong Cheng, nice as she is, can’t hold a candle to Japan’s Favourite Daughter in terms of sophistication; hence Dion. She certainly looks tasty — in the video, she’s wearing sandals, which of course brought a huge pervy smile to my face — but her facial and body movement are a little stilted. They’re still working on the R&D, I’m sure.
Whoever this group is, they clearly need more funding! We need China to produce more Synthetiks like Dion, and less like.. *cough* Chuka-cannon.

I’d agree with the article writer though — she could stand to have a better hairstyle. But y’know who she slightly resembles? 4woods’ Chris-type of the A.I.NEO Doll series.

Tell me I’m wrong

Sdtrk: ‘Never understand’ by the Jesus and Mary Chain

Stumbled across this encouraging article on a new blog called The Fembot Chronicle, which in turn got it from Pink Tentacle, which in turn obtained it from the Yomiuri shimbun. That’s a lot of turning.

Robot beauty goes skin-deep

In a move that could provide a crucial boost to our robotic friends struggling up the near side of the Uncanny Valley, major cosmetics manufacturer Kao Corporation and a Keio University research team led by robotics professor Takashi Maeno have developed an artificial skin that feels just like human skin.

Skin, the largest organ of the human body, consists of a soft layer of tissue (dermis) covered by a tougher protective layer (epidermis). The artificial skin developed by Kao and Keio mimics the feel of human skin with a 1-cm thick “dermis” of elastic silicone covered by a 0.2-mm thick “epidermis” of firm urethane. Countless tiny hexagonal indentations etched into the urethane epidermis provide it with a very realistic texture.

In a series of unscientific tests, 10 out of 12 people who touched the skin thought it felt like human skin, while equipment designed to measure the mechanical properties of skin confirmed the artificial skin had characteristics resembling human skin.

The skin was unveiled earlier this month at the 24th Annual Conference of the Robotics Society of Japan (RSJ) at Okayama University. While Kao plans to use the artificial skin in the development of new cosmetics, Professor Maeno sees potential applications in the field of household robotics, where there are many opportunities for human-robot interaction.

[Source: Yomiuri Shimbun]

Once again, Japan’s making impressive strides towards actual Synthetiks in society. Well done, Keio University team members!

By the way, the site where I found the illo used above would be ALIEN1452; if you’d like the NSFW scintillating full-sized version, you can clicky here, as it’s well worth it

Sdtrk: ‘Kinky boots’ by Patrick Macnee & Honor Blackman

Speaking of Dolls — cos let’s face it, when am I not speaking of Dolls? — it seems that the Good People at 4woods have just released two new heads for their delicious A.I.NEO series. I approve!

Left, Sayoko; right, Chris

Both the Sayoko-chan and Chris models are just under 5’2″, weigh 66 lbs, and boast 34.24.35 as their measurements. Yum yum. Upon reflection, ‘delicious’ is too simple of an assesment…

It looks like 1st Personal Companion have come up with a new head to choose from as well..

Looks a bit like Rose Tyler, don’t you think?

This head type is called Kay. Or Tracy. I’m not entirely sure. Whatever her name is, I’m likin’ what I’m seein’, and she’s a pretty attractive collection to the other head types that 1st-PC already has available..

Also, the current fate of SynthCreations, makers of the gorgeous Mecadoll, is that they’ve undergone a couple of corporate changes, and is now My Party Doll.

She counted sitting and staring amongst her many hobbies

I’ll wait and see what manifests before I add them to the sidebar list of manufacturers, but it’s good to see they’re still afloat! More companies = more sexy silicone diversity, which is always ace.

Back to Japan, A NEW CHALLENGER APPEARS!! in the form of Honey Dolls, by Axis Japan. Hopefully not related to Haman Karn‘s Axis from Gundam, but I digress. I literally just saw these as I was writing this up, but at a cursory glance, they certainly attract. Especially the Honey3 model, pictured below. Mmm.

She seems… distracted

This company is definitely one to watch. (I’ve added these cats to the sidebar, as they have an actual finished website.) Apart from the swap-out-capable heads, the under 70 lb weight, and the tactile sensors embedded in each breast, what really gets my attention is the fact that these are the first Japanese-made Synthetiks since Chestnut co. Limited’s Rare-Borgs that feature mouths that you can open. I’m excited. Are you excited?

And finally, regarding Cruyff, makers of the Erie series of Synthetik companions: I once mentioned that the name sounds like a light and flaky pastry, but could they be possibly named after legendary Seventies-era Dutch footballer Johan Cruijff? After all, what’s another name for a love doll? That’s right… a Dutch wife

Sdtrk: ‘Flashback’ by Ministry

I would say so, yes! Otherwise I wouldn’t be posting about it..
Last night, whilst grabbing the Interbutt by the lapels and shaking information concerning ‘My living Doll‘ out of it, I saw a home theatre forum where they had a thread about telly shows that people would love to see on DVD. One poster commented:

according to Julie Newmar Official website – Julie herself owns the rights to all 26 episodes of My Living Doll and apparently owns copies of each episode — here is a link to her website so you can read all about it — she is planning to release them onto dvd— http://www.julienewmar.com/links.html

How incredible would that be, I ask you? I already know the answer — pretty damned. I’ve recently obtained, through a secret website, copies of six of the 26 episodes of ‘My living Doll’ burned to a DVD, and the show’s definitely worth seeing. Apart from the fact that Julie Newmar plays a Gynoid — which would clearly be any Technosexual’s dream come true — the show’s so cheesy, it makes ‘Three’s company’ look like the Royal Shakespeare Company. But I love ‘Three’s company’, so your mileage may vary.
So now I have to get round to writing Ms Newmar. She’s sitting on gold, I tell you! GOLD!!

Also, a new Doll company challenger has appeared, fighting for dominance in the cut-throat world of Japanese Dutch-wife production: the Erie series of Dolls, by Cruyff.

EEEEE NO PEEKING, you MASHER

Cute? Yes, although that’s really all I can say about them — they possess a generic style of cute. As any iDollators worth their salt know, American Synthetiks manufacturers have the lock on making their lasses sexy, whereas the Japanese are focussing on cute. To me, the Erie Dolls have a look somewhere between UNISON’s Superdolls, and Orient Industry’s CandyGirls — visually they’re so similar, that you want to ask Cruyff (quite a name, by the way — sounds like a pastry) ‘so, what exactly makes your Dolls different?’ Apart from the one-piece assembly, and the relatively inexpensive price, that is.
I’m really hoping the next Japanese company that springs up takes a different aesthetic approach, and makes their lasses look less like another CandyGirl imitation, and more like, say, Chestnut co. Ltd’s late-lamented Rare-Borg..
Still and all, the Erie Dolls ain’t too shabby, and the more Synthetiks manufacturers out there, the better. But you knew that.

Also also, I’ve managed to get a bonafide DVD copy of Luis García Berlanga’s ‘Tamaño natural’, aka ‘Grandeur nature’, aka ‘Grandezza naturale’, aka ‘Life size’, aka ‘Love doll’, aka ‘The Doll’. Heh, now you see why it took so long to hunt down a copy. But it’s a pretty ace little fillum overall — almost tailor-made for iDollators. Astonishingly enough, it’s from the Seventies!

She was a biter. But he loved her regardless

The only drawback to the DVD is that it’s in Spanish with no subtitles whatsoever. C’est la vie. Or however you say that in Español.

Finally, on a more personal front, Marika, Sidore-chan and I might well be in front of a camera again sometime in the next month or so, for a documentary being shot by an English film crew. Details, as always, are forthcoming..

‘Shouting to hear the echoes’. Synthetiks? Really? No shit?

Sdtrk: ‘Paul cries’ by Think about life

I know, I know, I’m early. I’ll tell you, I was originally going to wait until the 17th of this month to start posting again, but I got bored. Doesn’t that sound crazy?
But the other reason was that I found a couple of things rather relevant to my interests, such as EveR-1, Korea’s answer to Actroid-chan:

EveR-1, a combination of Eve and robot, looks just like a Korean female in her early 20s including her shape that is benchmarked against the nation’s model. [..]“For now, EveR-1 can be employed as a guide robot at museums and department stores or as an educational model to read books to children,” Baeg said.

“But we are looking further ahead _ we are working on upgrading the android with the aim of making it move its legs by the end of this year. It will be able to sit down and stand up by then,” he expects.
the complete article is here

EveR-1 — apparently pronounced like ‘Beaver One’ — is looking rather tasty. And they’re planning on making her legs move as well? Naturally, my question is — how sexy will her feet look? Naturally, I’m on the lookout for additional pics and videos, so keep an eye peeled (sounds painful).
And y’know, if I see someone write ‘silicon’ for ‘silicone’ or vice versa, I’m gonna spit. Silicone with an E is squishy (think boobs); silicon without the E is hard (think circuit boards). Honestly, people — pay attention.

Also, the May 2006 issue of Scientific American sports a new article concerning Actroid-chan. You heard it here first! Well, second. Well, you heard about the article here first. Stop arguing with me, and read the bloody thing.

One key strategy in Ishiguro’s approach is to model robots on real people. He began research four years ago with his then four-year-old daughter, casting a rudimentary android from her body, but its few actuator mechanisms resulted in jerky, unnatural motion. With Tokyo-based robotics maker Kokoro Company, Ishiguro built Repliee also by “copying” a real person–NHK TV newscaster Ayako Fujii–with shape-memory silicone rubber and plaster molds. Polyurethane and a five-millimeter-thick silicone skin, soft and specially colored, cover a metal skeleton. Given clothing, a wig and lipstick, it is a near mirror image of Fujii.
the rest of the article is here

See, I was completely unaware that Actroid-chan was based off an Organik lass! Well, I never.
For those of you further intrigued — which is all of you, right? — I’ve got a couple of pertinent videos uploaded on my YouTube page, one of which is Ishiguro-san himself going on at length about what he hopes to achieve with the Repliee projects.

Not too shabby, Ishiguro-san! Now get back to work. You’re up against the Koreans now, mate
