Any Synthetiks-related news, Davecat? (Jan 2008)

Sdtrk: ‘Red light’ by Siouxsie and the Banshees

Not so much news as a heads-up: Axis Japan, 1st-PC, and, after a very long wait, Abyss creations, have all updated their sites for the new year. Axis Japan’s got a cluster of new pics of their Honey Doll models, 1st-PC boasts a more streamlined site layout, and Abyss has both a modern site layout (with pics by the esteemed and sexy iDollator Stacy Leigh), and with pics of their new Face 15 and 16 types, Lisa and Gabrielle. Well, as of this writing, they’ve yet to load pics of those, but I’m sure it’s at the top of their To-Do List…

A couple of days previous, I received an Email from a reader who wishes to remain anonymous, letting me know there’s a new blog that details ‘the “sex with robots” meme’, called, of all things, SpurtBOT. Despite the daffy name, they have a critical approach with a light touch that doesn’t go down dry. Yes, that was a pun. Worth a bookmarking? I’d say so!

And yesterday, while out and about wi’ me mates ransacking Ann arbor, I picked up a copy of David Levy’s recent book, ‘Love and Sex with Robots‘, as recommended by frequent reader ButtonJessie. (Hi, BuJe!) As you suspect, I’m rather looking forward to reading that…

So there you have it! This instalment isn’t as thick and rich as the usual ones, but I’m hoping more news rolls in as the months roll past. In the meantime, here’s a sexy picture to make up the difference!

Is she sleeping on toweling? That can’t be comfortable

OK,how about some inside doll news from the AEE in Las Vegas?

My Party Doll was there with a Leeloo. A beautiful doll but something struck me as odd. Wasn’t the new Bridgette doll supposed to have textured skin, not the Leeloo? That’s when Jim from MPD told me that contrary to popular speculation, Bridgette is only a new face! The textured skin has been incorporated into the Leeloo dolls.

And it does look very realistic! And feels nice to! And her boobies are softer than Phoebe’s! Little to say, I am quite smitten. There may be a Leeloo in my future!

Mahtek (our Man in the Field) –
So you say Brigitte is just a new face? Ahhhh. Huh! Yeah, that was driving me mental, as I’d seen the pics that Goldman had posted of a MPD a month or so ago in the TDF Album, and they were labelled ‘Brigitte’. I was like, ‘but isn’t the Brigitte model from back when MPD was called Mecadoll??’ I was confused, but you’ve cleared that up. Thanks!
Still confusing, though, as they only still show the Leeloo model on their site. I think an update is in order!

Nice reportage, sir! You’d better start saving up for Phoebe and Penelope’s roomie now! Now I know Abyss had a display, natch, but were Phoenix Studios there as well?

  3. Mahtek writes:

Think of Brigitte(I knew that spelling didn’t look right) as generation 3 Mechadoll technology. Leeloo and Brigitte share the same body shape, but are assembled differently. The photos Goldman posted were of the gen 3 body. Sophie face, she’s a Leeloo, put the new face on her and you have Brigitte.

And Mechadoll is still out there, selling the original, thicker Sophie doll. Not as mass produced as MPD, but still available.

Alas, Phoenix Studios did not attend. Too soon after startup to prepare. Next year for sure. Mimicon was there with their Pandora Peaks elastomer doll, and I had a great time working the booth with Kyle. We had traffic all blocked up with people waiting to squeeze her boobies and all the hot women wanting their picture taken doing lewd things with her! Perhaps next year you can make it there too?

My Party Doll and SynthCreations — Round one FIGHT!

And I’m gonna have to get to one of those AEE shows one of these days. Preferably one year when I’m not so broke I can’t even pay attention…

You may have seen this already, but if not it’s “provocative”!

    From Der Spiegel —
“A chess champion and the president of the International Computer Games Association, Levy, 62, has just published a book, “Love and Sex with Robots: The Evolution of Human-Robot Relationships” — that is provocative in the truest sense of the word. He is convinced that human beings will be having sex with robots one day.”

    Hey Tim –
thanks for the tip-off! I’ve not heard from First Androids in quite a long time — Michael, the sculptor/builder is a bit of a perfectionist, and he’s been tweaking that Andy Doll of his for a number of years (wow, that sounded filthy). We’re not really sure if his company even still exists, as last I’d heard, he only makes a couple of Dolls a year.
Maybe I should add his company to the sidebar anyway…

It is done! It’s the one listed under First Androids. Why didn’t I do that long time ago?

And I still have to read Mr Levy’s book! Maybe I’ll start on that today. Hell, I still have to crack open my copy of ‘Tomorrow’s Eve’

  7. Tim writes:

Tomorrow’s Eve! It is one of the most long-winded stories I have ever attempted to plough through. Entire chapters are devoted to the musings of the main character. Even the author’s full name is a sentence long!

  8. Davecat writes:

Yeah, you gotta love dude’s name. Jean-Marie-Mathias-Philippe-Auguste, comte de Villiers de l’Isle-Adam. Could you imagine meeting him at a party?

YOU: ‘Nice to meet you, I’m Tim.’
THAT MAN: ‘A pleasure, sir! I am Jean-Marie-Mathias-Philippe-Auguste…’
YOU:zzzzz huh? What? Oh, uh, hi! Sorry, narcolepsy.’
