A perfect day for iDollators, Part II

Sdtrk: ‘Hey double double’ by Add N to (X)

Meghan Laslocky’s Salon.com article is finally out, and it’s available for your edification right here. 🙂 (Unless you have a subscription, you’ll have to sit through an advert to read it for free, but it’s brief, painless, and non-invasive.)

As she’s informed me that Salon had to edit her story due to length constraints, she’ll be posting the full version to the vastness of the Internet sometime soon; at which point, I’ll alert the lot of you. But what’s displayed on Salon.com makes for provocative, thoughtful and fecking ace reading, and really isn’t bad at all. Plus, Shi-chan and I feature rather prominently in the article, so we’re a bit biased..

I’d also like to wave broadly and say a grand Hallo, to all new visitors stopping round to ‘Shouting etc etc’ from Shi-chan’s site, Meghan’s Salon.com article, or the search engine of your choice. Do leave a comment, or a charming message on the tagboard to below left, if you’re so inclined

Hiya DC and the ever-lovely Sidore! I was alerted to this and checked it out with the advance warning from Meghan that my bits were clipped from the article by Salon’s editors, most likely because they weren’t prurient enough LOL!

What can I say? Lily-chan’s not that kinda gal, but you’ll have to read her story if/when it sees the light of day 😉

Meghan said that our pics were on a slide-show thingy beside the article, but I only saw the pics on the link to Elena’s site. Did you see any such thing? Hmf, probably my extreme security measures blocked it LOL

Meghan also said that Lily and I get some exposure in the longer article (unless THAT gets clipped as well!), so that bears watching at least…

But you came off very well, as we expected, as did Everhard. The article was well-written and fairly thorough, although seemingly edited to the point of focusing on the more misogynistic attributes of iDollitry (sp?)…

Anyway, we’re quite pleased with it, and you and the Missus looked smashing together on the front page 😀

    Best wishes,
    PBS & Lily

    Hey, just peeking in.

I read the Salon article today and did a double take when I saw Davecat and Sidore !

I figured it would be the usual piece of fluff articles most sites tend to do about RDs and was surprised to see so many names I knew.

(I used to be on the “site” although I haven’t posted or chatted in ages)

Hope all is well over on your side of the state 🙂

I finally read teh article. I’m always such a johnny-come-lately.
Anyway:It seemed a nice write-up. Not being that knowledgable in the subject matter beyond what appears on this blog, I am no sure. But it seemed like they came at the subject matter even-handedly and tries to illustrate the various types of doll owners.

Davecat, you were definitely the star of that article!

Johnny-come-lately? No, that would be me. 🙂
I’m sure at this point, you’ve read the original article, before Salon.com got their scissors onto it. It’s a lot more in-depth and more open-minded. PBS is right; the way that Salon.com edited, it’s not as objective. It’s still good, but the difference between the edited version and the original is like a candle and a spotlight..

    Glory –
Hey there! Long time no hear! How are things on your side of the state? O wait, that was your question. 😉
You should come back round to the Forum! If you have the time, that is. Us Michiganders have to stick together!

PBS and LG (don’t know her middle initial) –
Thanx for the compliments! As I’m sure you’ve seen by now, Meghan’s original article is online, and yes, you two crazy kids are quoted, and talked about favourably. 🙂 And yes, you’re in the slideshow thingy — you can unblock Salon’s pop-ups, but you’ve seen the pic before. DON’T GO LOOKING FOR SPOILERS BEFORE YOU GET YOUR COPY OF THE BOOK!!

And as I mentioned to SafeT, the article itself wasn’t misogynist, it’s just the editing gives it that impression. Meghan’s a fine writin’ person, and I wouldn’t hear a word against her. 🙂 Still, it’s good to see iDollatry getting a bit of exposure. We’re all pioneers, y’know. 😉
